Volunteering with the Calapooia Watershed Council provides a great opportunity to support the programs we deliver, learn about environmental science and of course, have fun! There are several events throughout the year when we are in need of enthusiastic and reliable volunteers.
Urban Ecology – 2022 season over
Guide students on a journey to discover nature all around us! Students will use keen observation strategies to discover the elements of nature in an urban park. Students will continue to put these strategies into practice on a tour through the wetlands habitats of Talking Water Gardens. There, they will observe plants and animals, and learn how Talking Water Gardens and other healthy wetlands contribute to healthier watersheds.Students will also have an option to take part in a habitat enhancement project.

Our robust summer snorkeling program has been introducing youth and adults to the wonders of the upper reaches of our local rivers since 2018. Volunteer opportunities include exploring the river alongside participants to share in their experience and excitement, assistance with set up and take down, overseeing a section of river for safety (and interesting finds), preparing food, and others.
Linn Benton Salmon Watch
Salmon Watch engages elementary and middle school students in hands-on learning stations covering macroinvertebrates, riparian zones, water quality, and salmon life cycles. The CWC works with partners to deliver Salmon Watch to more than 1,500 students in Linn and Benton Counties each year.
