Distinguishing Characteristics

• Semi-evergreen shrub
• Grows nearly 10 feet high
• Alternate, pinnately compound leaves
• Ribbed, thorny canes (stems)
• White flowers, black tasty fruits BUT plants can produce up to 13,000 seeds per square meter!
• Re-sprouts through rhizomes and root crowns
• Canes can form roots at tips and nodes
