A Conservation Planning Workshop

Plan For Your Land is a collaboration among five watershed councils in the mid-Willamette River basin, including the Luckiamute, North Santiam, South Santiam, Calapooia, and Marys River watershed councils. Together, we are working with local landowners and land managers who are interested in discovering new ways to care for their land and deepen their connection as stewards.
*Note: Participants will have the option to attend classes in-person or virtually, based on their preference and availability.

Session 1: Feb 4 | 5:30pm - 7:30pm
- Introduction to Conservation Planning
- Invasive Species: How to recognize and manage for weeds, pests and more
Session 2: Feb 11 | 5:30pm - 7:30pm
- Watersheds: Where does rain go when it hits the ground?
- Habitat: Creating spaces that support fish and wildlife
Session 3: Feb 18 | 5:30pm - 7:30pm
- Agricultural Lands: Got milk? Or filberts? Managing lands for multiple purposes
- Uplands: Prairies, forests and other dry landscapes that keep ecosystems healthy
- Pollinators: How to support bees, birds and other beneficial wildlife

Session 4: Feb 25 | 5:30pm - 7:30pm
- Wildfire Resilience: Practical steps to lower risks and reduce impacts of catastrophic wildfire
- Pulling It Together: Writing your conservation plan
Due to the popularity of this workshop, you will be required to submit an application. The application is open to any landowners and managers, but depending on the number of applicants, we will prioritize participation for those who care for at least five acres of land. The application process is open now, and selections will be made by mid-December 2025.
Classes will be taught by subject matter experts who live and work in Benton, Lane, Lincoln, Linn, Marion, and Polk Counties.
Session 5: Mar 7 Field Tour | Time TBD
Your choice of two field tour locations:
- DRAGONFLY RANCH (NE of Lebanon) –Dragonfly Ranch is a 200-acre conservation property featuring wet meadows, oak savannas, woodlands, and ponds that are managed to support native species and natural ecosystem processes.
- ERION WETLANDS (Brownsville) – Erion Wetlands is a 320-acre private property located in Linn County. It is the site of our Tub Run Project with part of the property being managed for agricultural production, and approximately 120 acres has been converted to native habitats with an emphasis on wildlife and endangered species conservation, 70 acres of which is being managed specifically for threatened streaked horned larks.
